Brighton’s Artists 2014 is where you’ll find the city’s most exciting artists and creators between two covers
Art lovers and collectors can look forward to the launch of a vibrant new coffee table-style book that showcases Brighton’s most exciting creative talents.
Brighton’s Artists 2014 offers page after page dedicated to the city’s unique art scene, featuring more than 100 individual artists’ work. It’s packed with surprises, as well-known, established names sit alongside audacious new approaches. There’s also a chapter on the best independent galleries, plus guides to arty shopping and must-see events.
The book has been created by Alison and Torben Krog – the husband-and-wife publishing team who developed the ‘Brighton’s Arty…’ brand five years ago when Brighton’s Arty Magazine first hit the streets. “We love designing magazines, but this year we wanted to do something on a much bigger scale that wouldn’t have a shelf life, but would be treasured and referred to again and again,” says Alison. “And of course, we hope it will inspire readers to get in touch with the featured artists directly. Owning an original piece of art is such a pleasure – and living in this amazingly creative city makes it more affordable and accessible than many people think.
It may be Alison and Torben’s names on the cover, but they are adamant that the book truly belongs to all those artists and creators who bought into the concept and have collaborated to help make it a work of art in its own right. “We think it’s the first publication of its kind,” Alison says. “And we can’t imagine any other city having the same rich, diversity of artists to be able to produce it.
Brighton’s Artists 2014 retails at just £12 and will be available from select galleries and shops in and around the city from the end of March. You’ll also be able to purchase the book during Artists Open Houses weekends during May at 12 Kemp Street on the Central Trail. For more details contact
