Raise money for The Martlets by knitting!

Cocoon Knits in Hove has launched an appeal to raise money for the Martlets by yarn bombing an open top Brighton double decker bus – so get knitting.

Cocoon are calling on experienced, beginners or just curious knitters to pick up their needles and help. Each participant will collect sponsors and knit a minimum of three 15cm x 15cm squares. Knit any colour or combination of pattern you wish.

To celebrate the end of the project The Woolly Bus  will be driven along Brighton seafront on the 20th August with contributors and guests aboard. After the event all blankets will be broken down and sent to Africa with the help of Knit a Square charity to help keep AIDS orphans warm.

The aim is to raise over £40,000 for the Martlets Hospice.

‘MY SHOT’ Photographic Competition by Corridor

If you are a keen photographer and aged between 5 to 16 years old enter the ‘MY SHOT’ Phototgraphic Competition.  Corridor is looking to work with you to create a series of photos capturing sporting activity for the new Brighton and Hove Albion Football Stadium.

We are looking for keen photographers to win a truly amazing prize. We will choose 10 lucky winners to work with a celebrated photographer to capture a series of stunning photos, one of which will be placed within the new East Stand concourse.

Each winner will receive a new digital camera as a prize for being chosen to take part in a weekend to be mentored by the photographer, and to capture a series of sporting events through out the city.

To enter send us a photo you have taken of a sporting activity in and around the Brighton and Hove area within the last year. It must include a short description of less than 50 words, of what you like about the photo and why you took it.

Competition deadline is Sunday 27 March 2011

All entrants will be required to attend the photography weekend with a parent or guardian.
